1. What language level is required?
In general: B2 in German + B2 in English.nach oben
2. Where can I find more information on potential courses?
- General information on course selection can be found on LMU’s International Office homepage.
- Further information (e.g., brief module descriptions, overview of courses, exam regulation) can be obtained from the respective coordinator.
- NOTE: Not all English taught courses listed for Psychology are eligible. There are also restrictions given study level. Contact the coordinator for psychology.
- When selecting courses students are strongly advised to focus on “lectures” (“Vorlesung; VL”) and “seminars (SE)”. The “small group teaching” (“Unterricht in Kleingruppen; UK) is prioritized for LMU students and study places are limited. You will have a much better chance to enroll in seminars.nach oben
3. Can I study Psychology courses that are taught in English?
- Bachelor-level (BA) students: Incoming BA students are (in general) required to have a B2 level in German. They can select from all BA-level courses. They can select max. 1 MA-level course of any of the German taught master programs. They cannot select any of the English taught MA-level courses in Psychology.
- Master-level (MA) students: Incoming MA students are (in general) required to have a B2 level in German. They can select from all MA-level courses. They can select English taught MA courses in Psychology if space allows, but they must contact the Erasmus coordinator for Psychology in advance.nach oben
4. Will specific courses listed on the website and/or in the module overview for a specific semester also be taught?
- Courses that appear in our module descriptions will generally be offered in their respective semester, although the exact content of the course can change due to the expertise and/or preference of the respective lecturer for that semester/year.
- The exact content of modules and courses can never be specified in advance due to each individual instructor’s prerogative in the German system to determine the exact content of their course (Freedom of Teaching: “Freiheit der Lehre”).nach oben
5. How do I enroll into a specific course?
- ERASMUS+ and LMUexchange students cannot enroll for a course via the online system (LSF).
- You must contact the instructor for a specific course for confirmation that you can enroll in that course. This can easiest be achieved at the start or end of the first session of that course.
Students can try to contact the instructor(s) in advance by email or phone, but in general a reply is most likely in the two weeks before the semester start (but not guaranteed; join always the first session). - The ERASMUS+ coordinator can provide additional information to any instructor about the Erasmus process (if needed), but cannot influence to decisions as to whether you can enroll in a course.
- In general, enrollment in “lectures” (“Vorlesung; VL”) and “seminars (SE)” is possible. Enrollment in courses labelled as “small group teaching” (“Unterricht in Kleingruppen; UK) is typically difficult.nach oben
6. How do I enroll for course examination(s)?
You clarify this with each course instructor once you have received consent by him/ her to enroll in his/her course.nach oben
7. How do I obtain lectures notes ?
After completion of the study program at LMU all exchange students will receive a transcript of records in which all grades and ECTS credits are listed. The transcript will not be issued automatically. Each exchange student is responsible for initiating his/her transcript process. Creating your timetable via LSF is the basis for your transcript of records.nach oben
8. How can I determine the equivalence of SWS and ECTS?
In general program overviews list both SWS (Semesterwochenstunden) and ECTS. In the rare case that only SWS are listed: 2 SWS = 3 ECTS; 3 SWS = 6 ECTS.nach oben
9. I am studying Psychology/Education: could I study courses in the other department and/or other Faculties?
Courses at the department other than the one specified in the ERASMUS contract (in this case Psychology or Education) are open for selection. Always contact the respective ERASMUS coordinator in advance. Selection of courses at any of the other faculties of LMU is in principle possible, but this cannot be supported by the ERASMUS coordinators for Psychology and Education.nach oben
10. I am enrolled at a different Faculty: can I enroll in Psychology or Education courses?
Always contact the coordinator responsible for the specific department in advance. In general you might enroll if (a) this is allowed by coordinator of your faculty, and (b) you have a B2 level in German. You cannot enroll in English taught courses in Psychology.nach oben
11. Is the ERASMUS coordinator responsible for my transcript of records?
No. A transcript of records is not issued automatically. Each student individually has to initiate this process. More information can be found here.nach oben
12. If my ERASMUS stay lasts 2 semesters, must I enroll again at the start of the second semester?
Yes. More information can be found here.nach oben
13. Can I conduct an ERASMUS+ internship in Psychology or Education?
Typically ERASMUS+ internships are requested for the summer-break (July/August), which is very difficult given the German and LMU academic calendar. Students must contact the coordinator for the respective department. Additional requirements and regulations might apply.nach oben
